Eric Ambel Releases ROSCOE SAMPLER, A Special Edition Mix of His First Three Albums

Eric Ambel announces the release of Roscoe Sampler, a special edition mix of tracks from Ambel's first three albums, Roscoe's Gang, Loud & Lonesome, and Knucklehead, as well as a previously unreleased Ambel song, "A Charmer's Tale."

With a career that spans several decades, genres and scenes, starting as a guitar-player in the Original Blackhearts with Joan Jett, influencing the NYC punk scene as a member of the Del-Lords, forming the roots rock super-group the Yayhoos and playing guitar with Steve Earle's Dukes, the tracks selected reflect the range of Ambel's skill as a guitar-player, songwriter and producer.

Ambel released his first solo album, Roscoe's Gang, in 1988 followed by Loud & Lonesome in 1995. Both albums were reissued by his own label, Lakeside Lounge Records, in 2004 along with his third, Knucklehead. Roscoe's Gangwas produced by the late Lou Whitney and features guest appearances by Syd Straw, Peter Holsapple and the pride of Springfield, MO The Morells. Loud & Lonesome finds Roscoe stomping through some real heavy tunes in Brooklyn. Knucklehead includes tracks collected from many sessions with the bands he produced including Bottle Rockets, Martin's Folly and The Yayhoos with appearances by Steve Earle and Warner Hodges. Roscoe Samplerincludes selections from all three, as well as the previously unreleased Ambel song "A Charmer's Tale" which was recorded as part of the Knuckleheadsessions.

In 2016, Ambel released Lakeside, a tribute to his beloved East Village bar, Lakeside Lounge, which closed in 2012. The album was originally only available on super high-res vinyl direct from him, but after the run of vinyl sold out, Last Chance Records picked it up and released it digitally and on CD. Check out the video for his version of Gillian Welch's "Look At Miss Ohio" off of Lakeside. Roscoe Live Vol 1 (Livestock 2016) was released in early 2017 and described by Popdose as "a ten-track pure piece of no-bulls, no-frills, stripped down, absolute rock & roll with fire, skill, humor and a ton of soul."

Also in 2017, Ambel toured the US with Sarah Borges and Europe as part of The Three Aces Tour with Warner Hodges and Webb Wilder. He also performed on the Outlaw Country Cruise in January 2018. He'll be appearing at Twangfest this year with Sarah Borges.

Wearing his producer's hat, Ambel mixed the latest Squirrel Nut Zippersalbum, Beasts of Burgundy, and is currently producing Bottle Rockets follow-up to South Broadway Athletic Club.
