Daddy (James Franco & Tim O'Keefe) Reveal 'You Are Mine (B. Trust Remix)' Video Via Highsnobiety

Daddy, the duo comprised of James Franco and Tim O'Keefe, have premiered the visuals for "You Are Mine (B. Trust Remix)" via Highsnobiety here. The video was directed by Chinese filmmaker Zheng Lu Xinyuan. "You Are Mine (B. Trust Remix)" comes from Daddy's latest project Let Me Get What I Want - The Remixes album, released in September here. The pair previously shared the visuals for "Lime Green Dress (Martin Van Etten Remix) with BULLETT here and "I Am All These Things (City of the Jaguar Remix)" with PAPER Magazine here.

"The making of Daddy's remix album was a great opportunity for me to be able to collaborate with a group of close friends whose work I've always been inspired by," said Tim O'Keefe of the new project, "From the artists and producers who remixed each song, to the video artists and filmmakers who took those remixes and conceived their own unique conceptual vision for a music video." Tim O'Keefe noted, "Xinyuan elegantly captured the mood and feel of the song in her video. She has a keen sense of rhythm and an eye for poetry that is quite evident from her choice of imagery and editing style." On tapping B. Trust for the remix he remarked, "B. Trust's remix took the original track and made it more driving, darker, and modern." Comparing the new take to New Order's Blue Monday with "bits of Rex The Dog thrown in for good measure," Tim says he was "quite happy with his remix."

Filmmaker Zheng Lu Xinyuan developed the concept of the visuals around her time in her hometown of Hangzhou, China. "I listened to this song, walking in the streets. I looked around, this place I called home has changed a lot since I was here four years ago." Zheng Lu continued, "The lyrics of the song started to take on a different meaning for me....The song is personal but also universal, it echoes with the longing, the lying, the illusions and the desperation." Zheng Lu Xinyuan's short film Zheng Lu Xinyuan's Perfect Journey featuring Cacia Zoo was premiered at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival. Zheng Lu has co-written two books in Taiwan, and her first short documentary was broadcast on the Shanghai Dragon TV network in 2011.

The original release of Let Me Get What I Want was praised by Dazed & Confused, Pitchfork, VICE, Rolling Stone, V Magazine, i-D, Nylon and PAPER Magazine, who raved that, "Franco uses his lowest register to harmonize with his musical partner, Tim O'Keefe, over a new wavey synth and guitar, making for a foreboding, but sexy aesthetic." The album is available for download and purchase here via We Are Daddy/KOBALT, in addition to limited edition double, dark pink gatefold vinyl sold alongside a 16-page 10" color booklet consisting of drawings by James Franco, each one corresponding to a song on the album accompanied by a signed postcard.
