According to Deadline, THE BIG BANG THEORY star Johnny Galecki has signed on for Paramount's upcoming horror prequel RINGS, the third film in the "horror franchise about a cursed videotape that kills a viewer within seven days."

Galecki will take on the role of "Gabriel, a handsome, pleasure seeking professor who mentors and helps boyfriend and girlfriend duo, Holt (Alex Roe) and Julia (Matilda Lutz)."

In 2011, Johnny Galecki received his first Emmy Award nomination as well as a Golden Globe nomination for his starring role as Leonard Hofstadter. Before starring in THE BIG BANG THEORY, Galecki was best known to television audiences for his role as David in the long-running comedy series "Roseanne," for which he won a Young Artist Award. His additional television credits include a recurring role in "My Boys" and guest appearances on "My Name is Earl." Last year, he was seen playing a "tougher" version of himself in the final season of "Entourage."

Galecki's feature film credits include "Hancock," opposite Will Smith, Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman, "The Opposite of Sex," "Bounce," "Happy Endings," "Vanilla Sky," "I Know What You Did Last Summer," "Suicide Kings," "Bookies," "Chrystal," "Playing Mona Lisa," "Bean" and "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation." In 2011, he appeared in Andrew Niccol's "In Time" as Borel, the self-destructive best friend of Will Salas, played by Justin Timberlake.

Galecki will next be seen playing band manager Terry Ork in the indie punk rock movie "CBGB," about the legendary New York club whose name stood for "Country, Blue Grass and Blues."

Galecki has numerous stage credits including the Tony Award-nominated Broadway play "The Little Dog Laughed," for which he received a 2007 Theater World Award for Outstanding Broadway Debut, "The Drawer Boy" and "Pot Mom" at Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre, "The Member of the Wedding," for which he was nominated for a Joseph Jefferson Award, and "Galileo" at Chicago's Goodman Theatre, among others.
