Savante Wins American Movie Award for ONCE WE WERE SLAVES

Capetonian born Stelio Savante has won the American Movie Award as Best Actor for his leading role in Once We Were Slaves.

Founded in 1980, the American Movie Awards arose to honor excellence in filmmaking, with winners such as Meryl Streep, Warren Beatty, Clint Eastwood, and Steven Spielberg. The awards influenced a generation of ambitious filmmakers with dreams to one day stand on stage and be recognized for their filmmaking achievements before their industry colleagues and the entertainment media alike.

Savante has already been recognized for this role, winning best actor at IndieFest, Best Shorts Competition, and the Global Accolade Awards.

This coming June he also stars in two highly anticipated upcoming mini-series. The Making Of The Mob and American Genius.

MOTM (The Making Of The Mob) premiers on AMC on June 15th with Savante portraying Genovese crime family BOSS Joe Masseria. Narrated by Ray Liotta it chronicles the rise and prominence of Lucky Luciano and the five families in adocumentary-style series that uses archival footage, cinematic visual effects, and interviews with former city mayors, historians, and actors who have brought the Mafia to life on screen.

The second mini-series, American Genius premiers on National Geographic on June 1st. AG (American Genius) is the story of the unseen forces behind the greatest races for innovation, the moments when the brightest minds were given the rare opportunity to change the world. Savante portrays radio and television pioneer David Sarnoff, who was the founder of RCA Corporation.
