Octavia Spencer, Quvenzhane Wallis Join Cast of FATHERS AND DAUGHTERS

Indiewire.com reports that Octavia Spencer and Quvenzhane Wallis have joined the cast of the upcming drama FATHERS AND DAUGHTERS, based on a Black List script written by Brad Desch. The actors join previously announced cast members Russell Crowe, Diane Kruger, Amanda Seyfried, and Aaron Paul.

Gabriele Muccino will direct the film described by Variety as "a love story between a father and daughter living 25 years apart in New York City."

Spencer will take on the role of the head of the psych clinic where Seyfried's character helps troubled children. Wallis will play one of the patients at the clinic who hasn't spoken a word following the murder of her mother.

Crowe takes on the role of "a novelist struggling with mental illness in 1988, while raising a 5-year-old daughter" and Seyfried plays the present-day adult daughter, fighting her own demons from a troubled childhood.

Spencer was most recently seen on the big screen in Fruitvale Station and will soon be seen in Joon-ho Bong's upcoming post-apocalyptic thriller Snowpiecer, as well as the James Brown biopic starring Chadwick Boseman. The actress won an Academy Award for her performance in The Help.

Wallis recently appeared in 12 Years a Slave and was featured in a Super Bowl ad for Maserati this past weekend. She will next appear as the title character in Sony's upcoming remake of the musical Annie.
