According to Deadline, Marvel is pursuing KICK-ASS' Aaron Taylor-Johnson to take on the role of Quicksilver in the upcoming sequel to Joss Whedon's THE AVENGERS.

As BWW Movies previously reported, Quicksilver is set to sprint into Bryan Singer's X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, with Evan Peters (Taylor-Johnson's KICK-ASS costar) taking the role. There was ample speculation that Evans might keep the role for Whedon's AVENGERS 2 - though it appears that route has been abandoned.

Quicksilver's sister, Scarlet Witch, is also set to appear in THE AVENGERS 2.

THE AVENGERS 2 is set to hit theaters in 2015, with the original cast intact.
