Hailee Steinfeld will star in the film adaptation of CARRIE PILBY, a novel by Caren Lissner.

With Susan Johnson set to direct, the indie coming of age film revolves around a 19-year-old prodigy who has just graduated from Harvard and is struggling to fit in and make friends.

The film is set to shoot around May 2015. Kara Holden has written the screenplay with the help of Dean Craig. Susan Cartsonis is set to executive produce. In addition, Lissner has been heavily involved in the screenwriting, aiding the team in staying true to the popular YA novel.

The book was first published in 2003 from Harlequin Enterprises' Red Dress Ink, which also published BRIDGET JONES'S DIARY. CARRIE PILBY was also released under Harlequin Teen and has been published in Italy, France, Mexico, Australia, the UK, and Indonesia.

A person of high intelligence struggles to make sense of the world as it relates to morality, relationships, sex and leaving her apartment.
