High School Musical's Corbin Bleu will premiere tonight in the CW's highly anticipated new miniseries, "The Beautiful Life" also starring Mischa Barton, Elle Macpherson, Sara Paxton and Ben Hollingsworth. Bleu talks to Korbi Ghosh from Zap2It about breaking from his good boy image to play a struggling actor and musician.

Corbin Bleu is an actor, model, dancer, and singer, perhaps best known for his roles in the High School Musical film series, the Discovery Kids television series Flight 29 Down, and the Disney Channel Original Movie Jump In!. He also pursued a solo career and released his debut album Another Side in May 2007. The album debuted at number thirty-six on the U.S. Billboard 200, selling 18,000 copies in its first week. Bleu released his second album, Speed of Light, in March 2009 in the U.S. and will premiere tonight in the Ashton Kutcher produced mini series.

Bleu explains Isaac Taylor, his new role: "He was a very successful child model. But when it comes to high fashion, he's struggling with work right now. He's also trying to balance his music career, as well as being a DJ. And then of course, just being a person living in New York, it takes a lot. It takes a lot of money to come to New York. So for him, he's trying to get his cash any way he can and he ends up falling in with this very powerful, prominent woman in the industry, who offers him, you know, help, in return for him helping her out... if you catch my drift."

Initially cast as a guest star in the series, Bleu became a series regular after collaborating with the show's creators on enhancing his character's development. After shooting the pilot, all involved decided that Isaac Taylor belonged as a series regular. The show's creators were particularly inspired by Blue due to his music sensibilities, which are largely incorporated into the role now.

The heart and soul of Bleu's role, however, is he relationship with an older woman (a sugar mamma of sorts) played by Jamie Murray, much to Bleu's delight. On this pairing he comments: "I've started working with Jaime [Murray], I don't know if I'll ever be able to date anyone my own age! She is incredible. We've had a wonderful, wonderful time with each other on set. She's a brilliant actress. When we work opposite each other, it's funny, just seeing people's first reactions to it. People have seen pictures taken of us and go, I don't know how the chemistry will be between those two. But, I mean, it's turned out, it's beyond. It's really, really wonderful."
