According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox is moving forward with its long-gestating film adaptation of Marvel's DEADPOOL.

Planned as an X-MEN spinoff, the film - presumably starring Ryan Reynolds - will hit theaters on Feb. 12, 2016. Reynolds previously played the character in X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE.

The project is moving forward just a few weeks after test footage of the originally planned film leaked, also featuring Reynolds as the reckless mercenary. The actor recently said in an interview: "The movie has been in a state of limbo for a while. There was such an overpowering reaction to the footage, you sort of feel like, 'Oh, so we weren't crazy for our reasons for loving this character, for loving this role.' It's interesting to see the power of the Internet."

Fox has also bumped its FANTASTIC FOUR reboot, starring Kate Mara, Toby Kebbell, Miles Teller, Jamie Bell, and Michael B. Jordan from June 19, 2015 to ASSASSIN'S CREED's August 7 spot. The adaptation of the video game with Michael Fassbender, has been pushed to 2016.
