Crowdfunding has begun for the next production from Fireball Films NYC, In Case of Emergency. Written and directed by Stefanie Sparks (Cathy Coppola, Niles Never, Screwed, Bleed) and starring Ann Carr (The Actress, Fort Tilden, Louie), Phoebe Robinson (Blaria LIVE!, Last Comic Standing), and Jenni Ruiza (Ay Que Funny, Comedy Girls).

One woman gets impaled by the hood ornament of a yellow cab and loses her uterus. Another woman drops out of med school and begins selling prescriptions in Washington Square Park. And a third toils in a day job she hates while she pines for her boss. Here's the best part: the film just described is a comedy.

Supporting cast includes Lisa Haas (Codependent Space Alien Seeks Same, The Foxy Merkins), Peter O'Connor (Public Morals), Kosha Patel (House of Lies, Miss India America) & Zach Broussard (The Actress).

Set in a world of wannabe Park Avenue Princesses, In Case of Emergency tells the story of how three women become best friends as they help each other through hard times.

Sparks was inspired to write her story after she experienced her own best friend story. A few years ago she required the help of two casual friends when she unexpectedly needed surgery. Their help before and after the experience brought the three closer together and provided the director/producer with a starting point for her next script.

As a no-budget filmmaker, Sparks finds funding through a combination of film grants and crowdsourcing. She enjoys the process of working small and letting the masses donate. "I don't want to wait for someone else to give me the 'greenlight' to make this movie," she says. "We think this movie is going to be amazing and we want [the public] help us make it."

A vocal supporter of female filmmakers, Sparks' films FOCUS on the struggles women face whether with each other, with men, or with institutions. While she finds inspiration from several directors, Sparks' work is most often compared to that of John Waters. She cites his breakthrough film Hairspray and Terry Gilliam's The Fisher King as the films she used for In Case of Emergency's spiritual inspiration.

Indiegogo is hosting the crowdsourcing campaign. Sparks and Fireball Films hope to raise $15,000 to complete the film's budget. THE CAMPAIGN page includes a breakdown of where funding will be used, with the production donating six percent of all funds raised to Ghetto Film School.
