'Bond' Girl and Parisian Stage Star Eva Green Set for 'Cracks'

Former Bond Girl and Parisian stage star Eva Green is set to star in the independent film, Cracks. IFC Films as obtained the U.S. rights and will release the film sometime next year, according to Variety.

Cracks, will be directed by newcomer JorDan Scott.  The film was a Toronto Film Festival Favorite this year.  The film was shot in Dublin in the spring/summer of 2008 and also features Atonement's Juno Temple, ‘28 Weeks Later' actress Imogen Poots, and Maria Valverde. 

The script is penned by Ben Court and Caroline Ip, who collaborated with Scott, and is inspired by the 1999 novel by Sheila Kohler. Set in a boarding school in 1930s England, Cracks centers on a girl's unhealthy bond with her teacher, jeopardized by a new student.

Cracks was produced by Julie Payne (Scott Free), Kwesi Dickson (Future Films), Andrew Lowe (Element Pictures), Rosalie Swedlin (Industry Entertainment) and Christine Vachon (Killer Films) in association with John Wells. Ridley Scott and Tony Scott executive produced.

A staple on the Parisian stage before becoming an international screen revelation, Green enrolled at Ecole d'Art Dramatique Eva Saint-Paul in Paris at 17, followed by training at Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London and at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts in New York City where she studied acting and directing. She performed off-Broadway before returning to Paris, performing on-stage there for two years. Her most notable theater credits include Didier Long's Jalousie En Trois Fax and Gerard Deshartes' Turcarcet. Green was nominated for a Molière Award (France's most prestigious theater award) for her performance in Jalousie en Trois Fax in The category of best female newcomer.  Following this, she was cast in Bernardo Bertolucci's The Dreamers (2003). She went on to star opposite Kristin Scott-Thomas in the French film Arséne Lupin in 2004, Kingdom of Heaven with Orlando Bloom (2005) directed by Ridley Scott, Casino Royale with Daniel Craig (2006), and most recently the film version of Philip Pullman's fantasy novel The Golden Compass.
