BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD to Return to Theaters This Friday

Following its Academy Award nominations, Beasts of the Southern Wild is set to return to theaters in select cities, beginning this Friday, Jan. 18. Fox Searchlight Pictures Presidents Stephen Gilula and Nancy Utley announced the news.

"We are thrilled to bring this special film back to theaters a year after it debuted to standing ovations in Park City. With the Academy Award nominations, we hope Benh's sublime vision can continue to win over audiences as it has around the globe for the last year," said Utley and Gilula.

BEASTS was nominated for four Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Director.

Teeming with magic, beauty and pure joy, this crowd-pleasing winner at the Sundance Film Festival has emerged as one of the year's most acclaimed films.

Newcomer Quvenzhané Wallis plays Hushpuppy, the six-year-old force of nature in an isolated bayou community. When her tough buT Loving father Wink (Dwight Henry) succumbs to a mysterious malady, the fierce and determined girl bravely sets out on a journey to the outside world. But Hushpuppy's quest is hindered by a "busted" universe that melts the ice caps and unleashes an army of prehistoric beasts.

The film will open in Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, San Francisco, Seattle, Atlanta, Dallas, Phoenix, Miami and Washington, DC in addition to New York City and Los Angeles.
