Zac Efron to Star in Big Screen Adaptation of BAYWATCH?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Zac Efron may be waxing his surf board to join Dwayne Johnson in Paramount's upcoming big screen adaptation of the hit 1990's TV series BAYWATCH.

It was recently announced that Seth Gordon had signed on as director of the project. which centers on a group of California lifeguards. Damian Shannon and Mark Swift penned the script. Production is scheduled to begin in early 2016.

The film will follow "a by-the-book and very serious lifeguard (Johnson) who is forced to team up with a young rule-flouting hothead (Efron) in order to save their beach from environmental destruction at the hands of an oil tycoon."

Efron will soon be seen in the upcoming comedy Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates along with Adam Devine, Anna Kendrick and Aubrey Plaza. He also wrapped filming on the road trip comedy Dirty Grandpa, opposite Robert De Niro. The 'High School Musical' star will soon reunite with Rogen and Rose Byrne for Neighbors 2. All three movies are set for a 2016 release.
