According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stephen Colbert will sign off as host of Comedy Central's THE COLBERT REPORT on Thursday, December 18th. The Emmy Award winning host announced the news on last night's show as part of a promotion for the paperback release of his book, "America Again: Re-becoming the Greatness We Never Weren't."

With book held high, the funny man said, "Stephen Colbert, the guy you've seen here every night for nine years will be gone. All you'll have left of me is this book. So pick up America Again in paperback for a loved one. Or for a hated one. Go to your local independent book store, because I have a longtime war against Amazon, and I will never relent. Or - buy it on Amazon, because, you know, just buy it."

Colbert will head to CBS as the new host of 'The Late Show,' taking over for long time late night fixture David Letterman. CBS has not yet announced a date for the show's debut. Comedy Central recently revealed that 'The Minority Report's Larry Wilmore will take over the timeslot vacated by Colbert.
