You've binged on Netflix, you've seen all of Game of Thrones, and you've watched National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation eighteen times. You've been searching for something new, exciting and fresh to watch, but no one has told you where to go? Receive the holiday gift that keeps on giving and buy tickets to see Red is the New Green, an original sketch comedy show about the holidays, written and performed at the Bovine Metropolis Theater. This season, get your funny on.

"Red is the New Green is the perfect way to take a break from shopping malls, parking spaces and holiday stressors," says cast member Camilla Modesitt. It's weird, it's fun, and it's a boisterous time with all new sketch material, never seen before. That might be a lot of qualifiers, but this show is full of quality material.

"The writing process is so amusing," says Modesitt. "Most of the time it just starts with a funny offhand comment that I hear someone say. Like if someone said, 'Oh, she thought her Dad knew Santa,' and suddenly I have this idea of 'What if her Dad did know Santa? What if Santa was like a regular neighborhood guy, but also Santa?'"

Developing the characters together is part of the holiday spirit with Red is the New Green, "You're playing with your character and how to deliver each line," says Jim Gaffney. "I love finding some weird pronunciation or word accent that makes the room laugh." And even though it's sketch, the show is at an improv theater and anything can and will happen. The actors have to be ready. "Last year we had a kid come out of the audience and join in a sketch," says Gaffney. "It wasn't supposed to happen but its a great memory that none of us or the audience will soon forget."

And while your family members may not be encouraged to come on stage, ultimately the show is about family points out Modesitt "Its a show about lightening the holidays, poking fun at the things we all see as absurd during the holiday season, while celebrating the things we love."
