NBC's THE NIGHT SHIFT Wins Time Slot in All Key Categories

NBC's "THE NIGHT SHIFT" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 4.3 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) ranks #1 in the time period among ABC, CBS and NBC in every key category - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, plus total viewers - versus competition that included CBS's series premiere of "American Gothic."

For the night, is #1 or tied for #1 among all scripted programs on the Big 4 in every key measure.

Heading into this week was the summer's #1 original drama in 18-49 (L+SD).

Will increase substantially via time-shifting and VOD: last week's "Night Shift" grew by +33% in 18-49 (0.97 to 1.29) and 1.3 million viewers overall (4.5 million to 5.7 million) going from L+SD to L+3, giving "Night Shift" the biggest total-viewer lift of the night on the Big 4.

An encore telecast of "American Ninja Warrior" (1.0/4 in 18-49, 3.6 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET): Ranks #2 in the time period among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and total viewers, behind only CBS's season premiere of "Big Brother."

Also finishes #2 or tied for #2 among those nets in adults and men 18-34, men and women 18-49 and adults, men and women 25-54.

Grows +22% from its first half-hour to its fourth in 18-49 (0.9 to 1.1).

For the night, NBC ranks #2 among the Big 4 in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and total viewers.

In Late-Night Metered Markets Wednesday Night: In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 2.4/6; "Late Show with Stephen Colbert," 1.7/4; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.7/4.

In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.8/4; "Late Show," 0.3/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3.

From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.2/4 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (0.9/3). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.4/3 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/2).

At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
