Act II Playhouse to Host 'Stand-Up Comedy Weekend,' 1/31-2/1

Act II Playhouse in Ambler announces its latest "Stand-Up Comedy Weekend" on Friday, Jan. 31 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Friday's headliner will be Joey Callahan, who has opened for B.B. King, The Smother's Brothers, and Dion Warrick. Callahan is a regular at the Borgata and Tropicana casinos in Atlantic City, and has appeared on Comedy Central, Fox, and CBS radio.

Opening for Callahan is Chip Chantry, a Philadelphia-based comedian and writer who was just named "Philly's Funniest Comedian of 2013" in Helium Comedy Club's annual comedy competition.

Headlining's Saturdays two shows is Corey Alexander, who has performed around the country at such esteemed Comedy Clubs as Carolines, Comix, Gotham, Funny Bone, Catch a Rising Star, Comedy Zone, and Comedy Works. He won the New Jersey Laugh-Off in 2011; has been seen on MiND TV, Fox Good Morning, and CBS Sports Zone; and has been heard on WMMR's and WIP's morning shows.

Opening for Alexander is Billy Chiang, an immigrant with a traditional Asian background. Chiang has been featured on Comcast On-Demand and has played in such historic comedy venues as the New York Comedy Club, the Comic Strip, Catch a Rising Star, and the Comedy Cabaret in Philadelphia.

Tickets for all stand-up comedy performances are $20 for adults, $17 for seniors, $15 for subscribers, and $10 for students.
