The Philly POPS tips its hat to America's blockbuster films during Epic Hollywood Soundtracks from this weekend, April 10-12, 2015.

Music Director Michael Krajewski created this program featuring The Philly Pops Festival Chorus, a volunteer 125-voice chorus directed by Jeff Kern, who will join him in bringing his vision to life. This performance will include popular selections from Gone with the Wind, Ben Hur, Dances With Wolves, Pirates of the Caribbean and Lord of the Rings. On Friday, April 10 (8 p.m.), Saturday, April 11 (3 p.m.), and Sunday, April 12 (3 p.m.), Epic Hollywood Soundtracks will take place at Verizon Hall of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts on Avenue of the Arts in Philadelphia.

The Epic Hollywood Soundtracks concert lineup will include live orchestral versions of hits from some of the largest blockbuster films in cinematic history - an experience Krajewski describes as "thrilling." "There is nothing like all of a sudden hearing this music that you've always heard in the background of movies, but now it's just surrounding you," he enthuses.

The familiar songs and sounds of early Hollywood classics up to present day hits will transform the Kimmel Center into magical cinematic destinations such as the lush plantation setting in Georgia from Gone with the Wind and will have everyone looking over their shoulders expecting to see Pirates of the Caribbean's Captain Jack Sparrow at any given moment.

Following Epic Hollywood Soundtracks, The Philly POPS will conclude their 2014-2015 season with Legends of Rock, May 15-17, 2015, featuring the celebrated "rock tenors" Micah Wilshire, Rob Evan, and Shem von Schroeck.

Tickets are currently for sale for the remaining 2014-2015 Philly POPS performances and range in price from $28 to $129. Performances take place in Verizon Hall at The Kimmel Center of the Performing Arts at 300 S. Broad St., Philadelphia, PA 19102. Tickets may be purchased through phillypops.org or by phone at 215.893.1999.
