ChamberMusicNY, a nonprofit presenting organization, will conclude their 2014-2015 season on Saturday May 16, 2015 when ChamberMusicNY presents at Bruno Walter Auditorium the exciting percussion ensemble Talujon. The ensemble explores over 40 years of percussion compositions from Lou Harrison's Song of the Quetzalcoatl to Steve Reich's seminal Drumming, Part I.
Described by the New York Times as an ensemble possessing an "edgy, unflagging energy", Talujon has been mesmerizing audiences since 1990. Talujon is thoroughly committed to the expansion of the contemporary percussion repertoire as well as the education and diversification of its worldwide audience. The group, while maintaining a respectable touring history, always produces adventurous programs in New York City. Tajujon has presented these programs in the past to great praise, including first prize in the Chamber Music America Adventurous Programming Award.
ChamberMusicNY distributes free tickets to live chamber music concerts at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall with help from community and service centers around New York City including Fountain House, YM and YWHA of Washington Heights/Inwood, USO-Metropolitan NY, Greenwich House, Third Street Music School Settlement, Lincoln Square Neighborhood Center and others.
