Atlanta Symphony Announces Special Events for 2014 Decorators' Show House, April-May 2014

The Atlanta Symphony Associates is pleased to announce a series of special events that will take place at Palazzo Rosa during the end of April and the beginning of May. In addition to touring the home, attendees are invited to participate and indulge in these unique events that will complement the 44th Annual Decorators' Show House & Gardens.

The Decorators' Show House is open to the public from April 26 - May 18, 2014, and all proceeds benefit the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and its education and community engagement initiatives. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit DecoratorsShowHouse.org.

FRIDAY, APRIL 25, 2014

6:30 PM: Opening Night Party - Un Affare Rosa

Join the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the Atlanta Symphony Associates as they welcome guests to attend the Opening Night Party. Guests decked out in pink-tie attire will be among the first to preview the 2014 Decorators' Show House and Gardens. This magnificent estate is an Italian-inspired masterpiece by the internationally acclaimed architects Shutze, Reid and Hentz. Not only will guests have the opportunity to see the creations of Atlanta's top designers, they will also enjoy an evening complete with an Italian-inspired dinner by Carole Parks Catering and live music by the fabulous 14 Karat Gold Band. 12 PM: Timothy Corrigan - Book Signing: "An Invitation to Château du Grand-Lucé

Timothy Corrigan will provide an illustrated demonstration and signing of his new book, "An Invitation to Château du Grand- Lucé." Corrigan details his against-all-odds acquisition of an 18th-century French National Landmark in the Loire Valley, in dire need of repair, and subsequent painstaking restoration and decoration, bringing it back to life as a private home and personal retreat, where he loves to entertain.

1:30 PM: Parker Kennedy - Repurposing Antiques

Come join Lance Jackson and David Ecton from Parker Kennedy as they talk about repurposing antiques. Parker Kennedy Living is a high-end residential interior design focused on vintage furniture restoration and product development. Their look is "Preppy on the Edge" & "Southern Regency," taking traditional interiors and elevating them to an updated look.

1:30 PM: Robuck - The Impact Piece

Robuck's Kristen Marooney and Shane Robuck invite you to join them for an entertaining visual and historical education as they discuss the values, both aesthetic and investment, of fine antiques. Their presentation, "The Impact Piece," will be a study of incorporating elements, both exciting and interesting, into your home.

1:30 PM: James Farmer - "Dinner on the Grounds": A Book Signing with James Farmer

Join us on the grounds of Palazzo Rosa for a book signing of James Farmer's new book, "Dinner on the Grounds: Southern Suppers and Soirées." Southern born and bred, Farmer is a professional garden, floral and interior designer as well as a cook, author and lifestyle expert.

5 PM: Stan Topol - The Last Decorators; A Visual Education with Stan Topol

Join Stan Topol as he provides a visual look into the history and the people behind the decorative trade. Topol will define terms and explain that the word "decorator" has a wonderful background and direction for those following in the decorators' footsteps.

1:30 PM: Barbara Westbrook - Inspired Design for the Modern Lifestyle

Join Barbara Westbrook as she provides an illustrated look into designing a space for the modern lifestyle, highlighting one of her recent projects in Tulsa, OK, that will be featured in her upcoming book (scheduled for a spring 2015 release). Westbrook will share pictures of the home before and after a talk about what inspired the design in re-creating the home for modern living.
