Vickie Swan's 2012 novel, "Split Second Decision" (published by AuthorHouse), follows two friends struggling to escape a captor's clutches before being sold on the black market. Her book will be displayed at this year's The Word on the Street festival in Toronto.

"Split Second Decision" follows Anita and Carolyn who are abducted and find themselves aboard a ship on its way to the black market in another country. Unbeknown to Anita, her father, a well-known criminal consultant, had spun a deadly web that placed her in the center as a pawn for a black market mogul.

Separated from her friend, Anita befriends a young man, Chris, who helps her to escape, but her drive to save her friend was very powerful. Her father aids her in her quest to save her friend, but in the midst of things he abandons her leaving her to fight the mogul for her and Carolyn's life.

"Split Second Decision" delivers a powerful narrative as Anita and Chris become a tag team to be reckoned with, facing peril, deceit and challenges along their quest to find Carolyn.
