Author Solutions, LLC, the world leader in supported self-publishing services, announced Thursday that three iUniverse titles have been recognized with 2016 IPPY honors.

"The Crisis of Islamism: Its Causes and How to Address Them," (ISBN: 978-1491768297) by Ismail Rifaat, was awarded the National Bronze Medal in the Current Events (Political/Economic/Foreign Affairs) category.

In his examination of the current state of affairs, Rifaat explores the historical developments that led to the emergence of radical Islamic elements and the role Israel plays in the Middle East. A native of Egypt, Rifaat proposes solutions to the situation and examines the role he believes his home country should play in bringing peace to the region.

In addition to Rifaat's national award, two other iUniverse titles picked up regional prizes. "Dagger in the Cup," (ISBN: 978-1491723180) by JB Hamilton Queen, won the bronze media in the Mid-Atlantic Best Regional Fiction category, and "The Hivernante," (ISBN: 978-1491752586) by Mary Willan Mason, was named Gold Medalist in the Canada West Best Regional Fiction grouping.

Awarded annually since 1997 by "Independent Publisher," the IPPYs recognize excellence in independent publishing.

Thousands of books were considered for national honors, and more than a thousand competed for regional medals this year.
