New Book 'Sailing By The Stars' Sails Across Life, Brings Lessons

In his youth, author Jean O. Tinechi bore witness to the atrocities, the barbarity, men commit against their fellow man during the Nigerian civil war. This left an indelible mark upon him, compelling him to seek answers. He uses the fictionalized setting in "Sailing By The Stars" (published by Xlibris) to suggest that the inhumanity of man has persisted over the millennia due to a civilization built on a misguided education.

Johnny Maku is an intelligent teenage boy out in a luxury cruise ship to Alaska. There, he meets an equally intelligent and ravishingly beautiful teenage girl, Sandra Peters. As events unfold, what began as a simple trip turns out to be a journey through life. It is not until the very end that Johnny begins to understand the adventure.

The story is meant to be an allegory of how the problems the human community faces today are entirely of their own making. Tinechi says the book's message is that, "People have to look inside themselves and re-direct their education to create a better world. Present civilization simply serves to magnify human vices."
