Through her rich and fruitful years as an educator, published and acclaimed author Margaret Redfern has noticed the critical need for parents and caregivers to become aware of how children are being judged on what they "do" or "not do," meanwhile the more important focus of recognizing "who" they are is often lost. Inspired to teach and reach out to parents, teachersand all categories of caregivers, the author releases a timely publication titled "Pausing for Parental Perusal" (published by AuthorHouse) that incorporates a collection of articles dealing with the well-being, happiness and success of children/students.

The concepts in this book are based on author Redfern's personal experience dealing with student behaviors, including their successes and failures, effects of peer pressure, social strategies, challenging choices, and a deep need for acceptance and belonging. This writing is her continued effort in offering guidance to parents in protecting and nurturing the fragility and personhood of each child within a family unit.

"'Pausing for Parental Perusal' provides a depth of insights in offering parents and caregivers in helping them become aware that the "inside" of children, students has a need to more than be balanced than the "outside" needs of food, clothing, shelter, etc.," Redfern explains. "My writing will introduce and inspire [them] to the parental suggestions and guidance offered in the articles and focusing themes."

An inspiring verse, "PARENTHOOD," in Redfern's "Pausing for Parental Perusal" reads:

"Preparing me to live a happy life.
Asking me how I spent my day.
Reaching into my world of school.
Enabling me to be happy about myself.
Noticing me as a person.
Talking with me about my world and my feelings.
Hearing my inside story.
Offering a listening ear.
Overcoming immediate judgments.
Dispense praise; dilute blame."
