NORWALK, Conn., March 10, 2016 /PRNewswire/ A recent study by the German Research Center for Environmental Health found that a particular enzyme HDAC5, plays a crucial role in triggering satiety and could be the key to combating obesity in humans.

While hormones have long been a weight gain trigger, 90 percent of weight loss success is based on diet. There are a variety of other factors that may contribute to weight gain: underactive thyroid, vitamin deficiency, sluggish metabolism, diabetes and over-exercising.

"Clients tell me they eat well and exercise, but are still gaining weight and lack energy," says LynFit Nutrition Founder Lisa Lynn.

"As someone who has dealt with a "dead" thyroid and sluggish metabolism, I know that it can be frustrating to not see results. The key is to find out why."

Factors That May Cause Weight Gain:

Out-Of-Whack Thyroid
An estimated 11 million adults and children have hypothyroidism. An underactive thyroid can cause weight gain. Eat iodine rich foods and seafood. Raw vegetables can inhibit thyroid output.

Sluggish Metabolism
With age, a slow metabolism can cause cravings, fatigue, lack of energy, mood swings and depression. Metabolic home workouts and thermogenic eating can transform your body and increase energy.

Vitamin Deficiency
A blood check can reveal vitamin deficiencies causing lethargy, sleep disturbances, inflammation, constipation and abnormal blood sugar levels, which can lead to weight gain.

Over-Exercising
Over-exercising can cause binge eating. With metabolic exercise, the scale should start moving within two weeks.

Dial Back Diabetes
Diabetes can cause weight gain, heart disease, eye disease and kidney disease. Eat a lean, high protein breakfast to prevent blood sugar spikes.
