BIRMINGHAM, Ala.

In Genesis, it is said that the sons of God impregnated the daughters of men, inferring that this may have given birth to a race of giants known as the Nephilim. Author John Michael Tosti was so fascinated by the Nephilim that he not only researched them further but also began writing a book centered on them.

Tosti's new religious fiction "Michael and Lucifer: The Battle for Nea Zoi" (published by Lulu), tells the thrill-packed story of Lucifer and the archangel, Michael, and their challenge that will decide the fate of mankind.

When God decides he's fed up with the state of mankind and their willingness to commit evil, he decides to purge the earth. This prompts Lucifer to challenge God to a contest, in which he and his ancient nemesis, Michael, will vie for the soul of a pure man walking Earth.

Michael and Lucifer descend to opposite ends of the earth as mortal men, unaware of where Nea Zoi, the human with a pure soul, is located. The two will race to find Nea Zoi, in hopes of saving him, or corrupting him.

"Has our world really changed much since those days?," Tosti asks. "The settings have changed, the technology is new, but issues such as truth, racism, evil in the world, love, kindness, courage, and people still aspire to and cling to both sides of good and evil."
