NEWCASTLE, Australia

Before the Age of Man, magic was king. But despite its power, the Age of Magic came to a close due to the War of the Races, which pitted man, elf and dwarf against the hordes of darkness - pawns of the sorcerers of the Black Circle. Now over 100 years later, civilization thinks the Black Circle to be vanquished. They're about to learn just how wrong they are.

Author Jeff Thomson makes his literary debut with his new fantasy novel "Brothers of Darkness and Light: Book I" (published by Balboa Press AU), in which two Elven brothers start a conflict with each other that could result in the world's destruction.

Malkaar, a 180-year-old sorcerer of the Black Circle, has risen. Using his foul sorcery, he creates Brack - the Child of Darkness - to help him conquer the land of Erathyn. Fortunately for the sake of Erathyn, the Council of Light has a plan of their own and creates Malin - the Child of Light. Things quickly complicate when Malin falls in love with the Elven princess, who is then kidnapped by Brack.

"Brothers of Darkness and Light" follows Malin and Brack, as they clash over their opposing views of magic and conflicting destinies, a conflict culminating with their eventual face-to-face encounter. Their battle will turn into one that will not only decide their fates, but also that of the entire world.

Thomson hopes readers will be entertained by the story he has created and that they will return for the future entries in the series.
