ATLANTA - Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network or RAINN reveals that in every two minutes, another American is sexually assaulted, with the number of sexual assaults amounting 237,868 every year. Alarming as it is, another brave soul decided to share her story to heighten the bar for awareness of this phenomenon that wraps the country. "Grandfather's Favorite Girl" (published by Xlibris) is author Jasmine Inari Jarden's story.

Sexually assaulted and abused when she was a child, it has not been fairly easy for Jarden to step out and seek help to get to the road of recovery. When she started telling and working with her counselor to start her rehabilitation, Jarden also started writing as a personal means of having another outlet. After seeing that her journal is thick enough, she decided to come out and share her story - to empower fellow women and to raise awareness regarding the plight of sexual abuse victims.

"Female sexual abuse is a major problem in the US," Jarden says, "We need to address it and stop making it a big secret." By bravely telling her story, Jarden hopes to inspire more to come out and start their own journey away from the dark crevices of their past. With conviction, she tells fellow victims to tell someone that they trust and continue telling people until someone helps them. After all, Jarden believes that, "It is not your fault and you are not a bad person."
