James David Parker Shares Message of Hope in New Book

After enduring years of depression due to problems in his career, author James David Parker found answers through Bible study, prayer and introspection. He realized he wasn't the only one who faced depression and decided to start a program in his church for others. In an effort to reach an even larger audience, Parker wrote his new book, "The Fire Will Not Consume You-Isaiah 43:2b: A Journal of Prayer-A Search for God" (published by Inspiring Voices). Parker begins his book by discussing his life dedicated to the world of commerce. After a series of personal disasters, though, he finds himself totally defeated. James David Parker grew up in Kansas and served as a Coast Guard medic during the Korean War. He is an honors graduate in chemical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and has held engineering positions with Dow, Shell and IBM.
