Talking to the BBC to promote her new novel, and first book for adults, author J.K. Rowling couldn't escape questions asking if she'd ever consider a return to the world of Harry Potter.

Rowling noted that "where Harry's story is concerned, I'm done, and that I don't want to go mechanically back into that world and pick up a load of odds and ends and glue them together and say, 'Here we go, we can sell this,'."

She did however say that "But ... if I did have a great idea for something else, I probably would do it. I am very averse to the prequel-sequel idea. A sidestep could maybe ... well, we'll see."

British novelist J.K Rowling is best known as the author of the Harry Potter fantasy series. The Potter books have gained worldwide attention, won multiple awards, and sold more than 400 million copies to become the best-selling book series in history. They have also been the basis for a popular series of films.

This year, Rowling announced that her new adult novel The Casual Vacancy would be published in the UK by Little, Brown and Company. That book will be released worldwide on September 27, 2012.
