Gerald Kehr, Ed.D. believes that although there are a number of books on lateral thinking puzzles and quizzes, there are few texts that meet the criterion of being scholarly in nature while challenging readers to enhance their lateral thinking skills. He wanted to broaden the scope of what was available and it prompted him to write "Lateral Thinking: Exercises and Research Topics" (published by Trafford Publishing).

The book is intended to allow readers to apply their intellect to the creative thinking exercises found inside it. The multidisciplinary problems contained in the book are designed for those who are able to look beyond the obvious for answers. Each exercise is preceded by scholarly research cases that help guide readers in their lateral thinking efforts.

"Much of our present educational process centers on vertical or purely logical thinking," Kehr points out. "This book facilitates creative thinking which is critical for dealing with the complex problems and circumstances found in society today."

Through the publication of "Lateral Thinking: Exercises and Research Topics," Kehr hopes readers will develop their lateral thinking skills and ability to creatively solve problems as well as discern important yet subtle facets of complex thinking.
