NEW YORK - Granting a twelve-year-old granddaughter's request, "A Willingness of Heart" author George W. Gowen bares the story of his life in new memoir. He incorporates hilarious anecdotes, moving encounters and vignettes of life experiences from soulfully-lucrative travels and sojourns far and wide.

"Talk of Many Things" shares Gowen's many splendored takes at life. Born in Italy to an English mother and an American father, he spent his early years in the streets of Via de Colline to the Italian Alps of Gressoney. The arrival of the Second World War ultimately brought his semi-nomadic family to the homeland of the patriarch. To Philadelphia, they set out and came to harbor the American spirit. As he grew up and shaped a life of his own, Gowen has lived and relished the flavors of Washington DC, Virginia, Maine, New Jersey and New York. In this engrossing read, he shares a generous amount of anecdotes from people and places he had met along the way.

Equally diverse as his travel experiences is Gowen's involvement in various endeavors. He has been a law practitioner, served in the United States Army, volunteered in the US Forest Service, counseled leading sports organizations and became a chairman of environmental and humane organizations, among many others. This extensive exposure gave him insights about common social concerns on politics, law, nature and sports.

In this autobiographic nonfiction, the author hopes to instill a sense of interest in the readers. Learning about the bigger matters of life, he believes, is relative and that authentic experience is the best way to live and enjoy life at its best. "Be interested in the world around you," Gowen says. "And most importantly, be inclined to perform random acts of kindness."

About the Author
George W. Gowen was born in Italy. He lived in London, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Princeton, New Jersey, and Charlottesville, Virginia and since 1957, in New York City where he practices law. He has served in the U.S. Army, the U.S. Forest Service, has been counsel to leading sports organizations and chair of environmental and humane organizations. His legal practice and interests have taken him far and wide around the world. He has been married to Marcia for over 55 years and is the proud father of two daughters who have enriched his life with four wonderful grandchildren.
