Episcopal Priest Writes Handbook 'All the Places in the Bible'

The Bible is the most read book in history, but how much does the average citizen know about the physical locations mentioned in the Bible?

Father Richard Losch has written a biblical guidebook called "All the Places in the Bible". He believes that it's crucial for Christians to understand places referenced in the holy book.

"Knowledge of history, culture and values gives insight into well known biblical stories," Losch said. "It's important to be aware of both culture and events during ancient times so that popular biblical tales are not misinterpreted."

In addition to places in the Bible, the book also presents sites that are not stated by name but closely connected to historical events during that time period. Losch believes that a clearer understanding of Bible stories also leads to a better understanding of current events in the Middle East.

"A knowledge of ancient Middle Eastern history, much of which is presented in the Bible, sheds light on tension that still exists in the region today," Losch said.

About the Author

Richard Losch was educated at Yale, Berkley Divinity School and North Carolina State University. In 1960 he was ordained an Episcopal priest. He's active in a number of community affairs, including Rotary International, American Mensa and the Boy Scouts of America. "All the Places in the Bible" is the fourth in a line of religious novels. Losch currently resides in Livingston, Alabama.
