Corin Staples, an elementary school teacher who appreciates the importance of literacy, has completed her new book "Grandma and Grandpa's Magical Pumpkin Patch": a charming story in which a boy's weekend stay with his seemingly boring grandparents turns into a lifetime of magic.

A grandmother herself, Staples created this book to fulfill two of the purposes she holds highest in her beloved genre of children's literature. "(I) love books that create comfort as they are read on a parent's lap (...) and want children to develop skills to become lifetime readers." The ending of this warm story is followed by a guide for reading, which assists parents and caregivers in bolstering the child readers' literacy skills with this book.

Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Corin Staples's touching tale portrays the birthday weekend of seven-year-old Dallin, as his perception of his grandparents as a peculiar pumpkin-loving pair is altered into something more meaningful.

Dallin is disappointed but not surprised when his grandparents arrive at his birthday party seemingly empty-handed, with the exception of their annual gift of a pumpkin from their pumpkin patch. However, upon spending a weekend with his grandma and grandpa over the Harvest Moon, he discovers the important place that those orange gourds hold in his family history.

With the help of his grandparents, Dallin experiences all of the activities that one can engage in with pumpkins, from picking to planting and from carving to eating - even the seeds! The physical experiences with the pumpkin are illuminated by the meaningful stories of his ancestors and their lifetime of dedication to this particular crop.

The tradition of growing pumpkins and finding the magic of the light of the Harvest Moon as it glows down upon the pumpkin patch are imparted on Dallin, as is the love and necessity of the bond of family.

Readers who wish to experience this inspiring work can purchase"Grandma and Grandpa's Magical Pumpkin Patch" at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
