In "Me & My Sister" (published by AuthorHouse), Colleen Hudrick's new children's book, young readers learn that life - namely school, sports and other activities - is about the journey, and that striving to accomplish a goal is what builds character.

According to Hudrick, not every child is going to do well in school. "But as long as you try your best," she says, "you should be proud of the journey taken." "Me & My Sister" teaches young readers lessons about developing a sense of pride from working hard. "All families should teach their children this lesson. It applies not just to school but every aspect of life."

An excerpt from "Me & My Sister":

"As the children boarded the bus, Colleen was looking out of the window very sadly. Aggie looked at Colleen and asked, 'How did you do in your test?' 'I received a "C."' Colleen replied. 'That's great, you passed the test!'

'What did you get on your test?' Colleen asked. 'I received an A.' Aggie replied. 'Aggie, you always get an A on your tests!' Colleen said in with a disappointed tone."

Hudrick hopes her book inspires young people. "There is always something a child is not going to be good at, whether it's school, sports, art, etc.," she says. "The lesson of putting forth your greatest effort and being proud of yourself even if you are not the best will resonate with young readers."
