An adventurous woman almost loses her life after a tragic incident, but what could have been the end of the line marks the beginning of "Finnegan's Wake" (published by Xlibris). Charlene Goldschmidt's new novel follows the titular heroine as she recovers and struggles to regain her life, conveying a message of inspiration to readers as well as immersing them an engaging, character-driven narrative.

"That's me over there. I'm the one who looks like the science fair project. I'm lying in the bed hooked up to all the machinery," Willie Finnegan says, describing the conundrum she faces after being found locked in the trunk of a car, which was pulled out of a river. Her experiences show readers what being in a coma is like and goes through the arduous process of getting out of the hospital bed and back to her life. She shares her story as she gradually recovers from the coma, as life seemingly returns to normal as she deals with the police and tries to get to the bottom of the incident that nearly killed her.

With "Finnegan's Wake," Goldschmidt portrays not only the impact of tragedies and the effects of coma on an individual, but also how such events can affect family, friends and loved ones. They, in turn, play pivotal roles in Finnegan's recovery, which becomes the greatest adventure in her life.
