Fiji Random, the whimsically illustrated, Japanese manga-inspired comedy comic by American artist/author Justin Raimey, centers on an outspoken teenage gamer-girl named Fiji and the zany world that surrounds her; a world of well-endowed half zombie girls, violent live-in foreign exchange students, perverted sidewalk pirate children, accidental time-travel homicide and a crazy cosplaying stay-at-home mom!

The structure of the first volume of Fiji Random consists of three storytelling styles: the main storyline that highlights Fiji's wacky walk to school, a wide variety of short stories that go along with the main plot, and several 4-panel comic strips that add to depth of the story. The short stories and 4-panel comic strips follow the silly exploits of the 45+ supporting characters that are a part of the Fiji Random world, and serve to introduce the characters to the readers before those characters appear in the main plot of the story (Fiji's walk to school). The reader will piece together the chronological order in which the 4-panel comic strips and short stories coincide with the main storyline of Fiji's walk to school as they progress through the volume.

Fiji Random's themes are relatable to its intended audience of 12 - 24-year-olds. Additionally, the high school hi-jinks that the characters experience in this story and the colorful personalities of the characters themselves are relatable to the modern-day teenager and young-adult. Fiji Random is basically a satirical exaggeration on modern everyday high school and young-adult life.

Fiji Random began as a project once Justin took up drawing in the Japanese manga style (Manga are Japanese style comic books) as a hobby while in high school. This is why the artwork appears to improve and evolve as the reader progresses through the volume; it takes the reader on a journey of Justin's growth as an artist over the period of time that he devoted to the completion of Fiji Random.

Fiji Random is published by Black Streak Entertainment and is now available in bookstores and eBook stores. This title is recommended for ages 12 and up. For press inquiries, or to request an interview with the author, please contact Terry Raimey at press (at) blackstreakbooks (dot) com.
