Author Allan H. Nelson believes that almost every family needs a properly funded family trust, and that a trust could be one of the finest one can give their children. By extending help and knowledge to all who are interested, he gives general legal advice to avoid the pitfalls of probate. Nelson presents a short yet comprehensive book on how a lay reader can better understand and avoid probate.

After the death of his cousin, and during course of the distribution of his cousin's will, Nelson observed that something was amiss considering the enormous amount of money that went to the taxes, an attorney, a realtor, and others. In light of what happened with his cousin's estate and driven by the desire to prevent a similar incident in the future, Nelson discovered that a trust will avoid this costly process - that money and possessions can be distributed, without the process of probate, when one has a trust.

Sharing his knowledge from research and from his experience as an estate planner for 25 years, Nelson outlines what a person can do to draft his or her own family living trust. This book teaches the importance of a Living Will, a Special Power of Attorney, and a Pour-Over Will, with actual examples of problems a bereaved family encounters when a loved one dies. This new book sets a personal touch and presents an honest account of the real happenings when an estate is probated.
