Sharpen your fangs, as the multi-award winning theatre company shake & stir theatre co promise in August, there will be blood. The company will present Bram Stoker's gothic masterpiece Dracula, which swoops into the Cremorne Theatre, Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) for a limited season from 13 August 2015.

Created and adapted by one of Australia's leading contemporary theatre companies, this gripping world premiere of Bram Stoker's 1897 horror-classic vows to be every bit as tortured and charismatic as the novel.

Dracula tells the story of young lawyer Jonathan Harker as he visits Castle Dracula in the Carpathian Mountains. Alone and trapped within the castle walls, Jonathan discovers that his host Dracula wants more than just his presence at the dinner table; he might also be the main course. Leaving Jonathan for dead and his castle behind Dracula travels to London on a quest for seduction, true love and above all blood.

Directed by the award winning Michael Futcher and adapted by shake & stir's Artistic Directors Nelle Lee and Nick Skubij, this twisted tale features a stellar cast including fellow Artistic Director Ross Balbuziente, Tim Dashwood (The Graduate, Animal Farm), Ashlee Lollback (INXS Never Tear Us Apart, Pale Blue Dot), and David Whitney (1984, Rock of Ages, Cyrano De Bergerac).

"Vampire fiction just won't die - it is un-dead. Enjoying a major resurrection with the wildly popular Twilight motion pictures, television series True Blood, The Originals and The Vampire Diaries there is no doubt that audiences today are as intrigued to all things macabre as their 19th century counterparts," Co-Adaptor Nick Skubij states.

"We look forward to plunging into the darkest recesses of our imagination and are excited about experimenting with some ultra-theatricality to achieve the mind-boggling, head-twisting, blood-spurting moments so vividly described in the novel," Skubij adds.

In their fifth year co-presenting with QPAC, a partnership that brings to life the commitment the Centre has to supporting local companies and assisting them in being able to deliver artistic experiences to a large audience, shake & stir invite you to sink your teeth into another bloody classic.
