As the world waits for all of the firsts of 2012, ImprovBoston is putting a very unique spin on the new year. The Boston comedy mainstay will kick off 2012 with a hilarious event. On January 1, throughout two shows, 100 comics will tell their first jokes of the year.

Tickets cost $5 in advance and $10 at the door. Shows are at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. with 50 comics performing in each show. ImprovBoston is at 40 Prospect Street. Tickets are available online at www.improvboston.com or by phone at 617.576.1253.

The people who brought audiences ImprovBoston Presents, Stand Up Sundays, and The Comedy Lottery have decided to go for broke after the ball drops, by assembling the Greater Boston Stand Up Community for the first 100 jokes of 2012. Each show will give 50 different comics the mic for 2 minutes or less for their first new, never been told joke of 2012.

“The theater is incredibly excited to host 100 First Jokes and offer such a unique opportunity for audiences to see the entire standup community in one night,” explains Managing Director Zach Ward. “Two shows, two hosts, 100 comics, 100 first jokes. It’s going to be amazing.”

The first show features: Bethany Van Delft (Montreal Just For Laughs Festival); Dan Boulger (Winner - Boston Comedy Festival 2006) ; Kelly MacFarland (Aspen Rooftop Comedy Fest - Audience Award); Dana Jay Bein; Jenny Zigrino; Maria Ciampa (Co - Producer - Women In Comedy Festival); Michelle Barbera ( Co - Producer - Women In Comedy Festival); Paul D'Angelo (Legendary Boston Comedian); Rick Jenkins (Owner of The Comedy Studio); Shawn Carter; Tony Moschetto (Comedy Central - Stand Up Stand Up); Val Kappa (Comedy Central - Premium Blend); and Wes Hazard.

The second show features: Jim Lauletta; Andrea Henry; Andrew Mayer; Dan Crohn; Kate Ghiloni; Lamont Price (Finalist - Boston Comedy Festival); Matt D (Best Comic - Boston Phoenix Readers); Mehran (Finalist - Boston Comedy Festival); Rick Canavan; Steve Macone (Writer for the Onion) ; Tony V ( Legendary Boston Comedian); and Will Noonan.

Shows will be hosted by local comics Dana Jay Bein and Matt D.
