HAIR, ROCK OF AGES et al. Highlight 2010-11 BAA Boston Season

Boston announced today its upcoming 2010-2011 Broadway Season which will include six productions at Boston's Colonial Theatre and the Boston Opera House. "The upcoming season brings us back to a time and place that helped shape identities, generations and events that speak to the collective spirit and consciousness," said Drew Murphy, President of Broadway Across America - Boston. "This Season will be about reminiscing, recreating, and redefining your generation."

Headlining the upcoming season at Boston's historic Colonial Theatre is ROCK OF AGES, where audiences are transported back to the '80s. Also playing the Colonial is the new touring production of the 2009 Tony® Award-winning Best Musical Revival HAIR, directed by Diane Paulus. Slated later for the upcoming season is the new touring production of WEST SIDE STORY. The holiday season will feature the Tony® Award-winning Best Musical JERSEY BOYS, featuring the music of and story behind The Four Seasons.

Boston's Opera House will play host to the Tony® Award-winning MARY POPPINS, based on the original stories by P.L. Travers and the Walt Disney film. As a season special and return engagement, WICKED opens the 2010-2011 Season and introduces theatergoers to the witches of Oz long before Dorothy stepped into those infamous ruby red slippers.

Over 600 people from around the city celebrated today's announcement, including Broadway Across America - Boston premier season ticket holders, group leaders, arts and business leaders, city officials, partners from around the city, sponsors, and the Boston media. Highlights from the day included special live performances from Broadway cast members from ROCK OF AGES (featuring Joel Hoekstra, guitarist from the rock group Night Ranger), MARY POPPINS, and WEST SIDE STORY.
