Posted: 10/3/08 at 8:11pmI help out at a dance school and we are doing a a recital this year with a colors theme. I was hoping to get at least one really good, uptempo broadway song. Can anyone give me some ideas? Thanks!

Posted: 10/3/08 at 8:15pmlotso ballads come to mind, but the only uptempo that jumps out right away is the section of JOSEPH where the coat's colors are named....
Will: They don't give out awards for helping people be gay... unless you count the Tonys.

'All About The Green' from 'The Wedding Singer' is the only one that sprang instantly to mind. But if you go to castalbums.org, you can actually search by colour in song titles. There's... quite a lot of green, really! So if you don't mind spending a little time inputting colours, or if you are after a specific colour, you could always give it a bash. ^_^

"Somewhere That's Green" from Little Shop of Horrors?
And if ANYONE could make a dance routine out of "Red and Black" from Les Miserables (probably the least-danceable song ever), then I think they deserve a million dollars.

Does "Legally Blonde" count as a colour?
This isn't Broadway, but do you know the Spectrum Song from Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Colour? "Red yellow green red blue blue blue red purple green yellow orange red red. Blend them all, and what do you get? Cerise, chartreuse, and aqua... MAUUUUVE! Beige and aquamarine and every colour in between!"

Walking in Space - Hair (it has a color section...right?)

It doesn't have a color in the title, but "Color and Light" from SITPWG is still pretty fun.
There's "The Old Red Hills of Home" from "Parade," and, going back a ways, "Alice Blue Gown" from Irene.

Red, Hot and Blue - Red, Hot and Blue (Nothing says good ol' fashioned Broadway like Ethel Merman.
Vanilla Ice Cream - She Loves Me (more the flavor rather than color, but such a fun song)
My Favorite Things - Sound of Music (lot's of colors...bright copper kettles, brown paper packages, cream colored ponies, girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes, silver white winters that melt into springs)
Sunday - Sunday in the Park with George (my favorite color song, but it isn't upbeat...still I'm sure it can be danced to)
