Will Chase was still out and Jon Patrick walker was on. He was fabulous, I found his acting to be better than Will's, although Will's vocals are more powerful.

He made Rob a more likeable character...he was dorky and adorable and endearing and my whole feeling about his relationship with Laura change.

The pleasant surprise of the night for me was catching Andrew Call on as TMPMITW and Bruce. Seeing him as Luke was great, but I never knew Andrew was so versatile. He was hysterical as both!!

So sad this show is closing. While the book might not be gold, the score and the talent within it are.

I caught the show last night as well...Jon Patrick Walker was amazing! Initially I was a little disappionted that Will Chase was still out but JPW did a fantastic job of making Rob very likeable. You're absolutely right about that carymetorent2.

It really is a shame the show is closing. I definitely would have gone back to see it again.

Is Will Chase sick? What's going on? I am seeing the show tonight, and I really want to see him.

Yes he is sick. I think there's a chance you'll see him tonight, but not for sure.

That has to really suck. Your show is only on for approx. 2 weeks, and you are sick for some of it.

Ashley, how do you know he's sick? I guess that would be the logical assumption, but just curious. I'm going with a friend on Friday and hope he'll be back.

I can't say for sure he's sick, but he was on for the matinee yesterday after missing two shows, so its a pretty logical guess.

I thought High Fidelity had Sunday evening shows instead of Wednesday matinees...so how could Will have been on for yesterday's matinee? (unless I'm wrong about the schedule)

You could be right, I just know that when I passed the theatre yesterday before the matinee, the only one listed as out was Jeb Brown (Ian).

Kind of a long story, but a friend yesterday ended up talking to someone who works there and they said he is sick.

yeah. the intermission switch is a pretty rare occurence, and its pretty interesting to see will chase all through act 1 and then see jon come out during act 2, since they are both VERY different from each other, it got a good laugh from the audience, and then people got right back into it like nothing was different. im going back this weekend, i wanna see will do act 2.

I'd probably get "sick" too if I was the star of one of the biggest flops in the last 10 years.

i love narrow minded people.

one of the main factors that it flopped was because it has a ridiculously hard to find target audience...guys ages 18-30...thats not your average broadway theatergoer.

the show, regardless of how long its run is/was, is a great show, and its a shame it wont be given the chance it deserves. hopefully it will tour.

There was no Wednesday matinee yesterday.
Will was out on Sunday, attempted to come back on Tuesdya and couldn't make it through the show. He is sick, but I believe he is resting up so he is at full health for his final shows. Better to do four or five great shows, then six or seven half-assed ones.

It also flopped because it got across the board pans, has a weak cast, a creaky book, a miscast star, and horrible guidance in the form of Walter "I should never direct a musical again" Bobbie.

I'm only narrow minded, because I'm disagreeing with you.

I think denying the undeniable faults of a show is narrow minded.

BobbyBubby- Just curious, why do you think Will Chase is miscast? I respectfully disagree, but I'm really interested in your opinion.

I guess I just don't get the Will Chase love. He lacks the charisma necessary to be a true leading man, in my opinion.

That's interesting. I didn't find that Will was miscast, but if anything, I would think that the complaint would be that he's too conventionally charismatic (i.e. smooth) in a role that calls for someone a bit dorkier. Updated On: 12/14/06 at 02:46 PM

I actually thought he was perfect in the role. Of course, that's just my opinion. He was quirky but smooth when the role called for it, and hilarious.

A lot of my friends that saw the show last night thought Jon Patrick Walker was ten times better than Will and voiced that they enjoyed the show, as a whole, more with him.

BobbyBubby, sweetestsiren didn't say that Will was miscast. Rather, she said that would be her one complaint about him if she had to voice a complaint. I saw the show with her and discussed it afterward with her; don't put words into her mouth. One can find a possible flaw in someone's performance without thinking that he or she is miscast.
