I agree. What I find most shocking is no nom for Alex Timbers.

Everyone is complaining about Joy Woods being snubbed. Do we on here agree?

Surprised by the lack of The Notebook. I thought the score at least deserved to be nominated.

I wasn’t really into joy woods or the lead from Tommy. A lot of people predicted them.

Just want to give you a million thumbs up!  Thank you so much for the laugh!  I needed that after a dismal showing of my favorite musical.

Nooo, the lyrics are mostly cringy.....!  Glad the nominators recognized that!

I feel like there was a bit of "we're not going to recognize folks for work they did a decade-plus ago here" going on this morning. Same with Des for Tommy (even though it's a new production, it's still the same guy they recognized 30 years ago doing a production of Tommy).

It didn’t stop them from awarding Kenny Leon for directing the same show twice. That was ridiculous

Yes, and there was a lot of backlash when that happened. It feels like they're trying to avoid future examples of that.

Rebecca Frecknall deserved a nom over Greif, just so the direction of a musical nominee field could’ve been all women.

Oh look, a bibu!

Yeah, an embarrassing for the committee.   But not surprised based on quite a few on the list. Small pool of people.   Way too much for Water For Elephants.

I don’t understand all the hate for back to the future. Yes, it’s pedestrian. But it’s a lot of fun, wonderful big musical numbers and effects. And Roger Bart, Hugh Coles, and Casey Likes rock.

And they sound WORSE than the last few times he re orchestrated this score. I mean, I know it's not Encores!, but still.

His role was absolutely not a minor one
"

Conrad was purely noble; Jose was solely villainous. Arielle was the only one who really had something to play. Imelda carries that show.

I feel worse for Chip Zien who should have gotten a nomination for Caroline.

How many shows does Paul Alexander Nolan have to be in before getting a nomination?

I don't understand Best Scenic Design of a Musical as a category

I'm glad they spread the nominations around to a lot of shows in a crowded season but it definitely resulted in some weird choices and snubs. The actual breakdown of the votes would be so interesting.

Those are not the same orchestrations. Listen to the recordings. Actually, every time he’s orchestrated Merrily, it’s been different.

Definitely feels like the knives are out for Eva & Jeremy in GG.

It's like they’re being punished for being celebrities and in a hit show.

Really? I felt their singing was great, but their acting was pretty boring and basic. It's not personal at all....Eva isn't known beyond Bway audiences, is she? And I'd argue JJ isn't terribly known beyond that either... He was in Supergirl, but much else mainstream beyond that?

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Hard to explain the nominations for Sarah Paulson and Daniel Radcliffe, then.

celebrities? eva's last two film credits are **voice in failed comeback of former Pixar chief who was ousted for inappropriate behavior** and **supporting role in film starring the guy who bombed at the golden globes**

I don’t think I’ve noticed much talk about her missing, but I’m surprised Francis Benhamou didn’t make the lineup. It definitely seems like Betsy Aidem competing as a lead was a smart move, cause I’d have thought Benhamou would be ahead of her if she stayed in Featured Actress.

I didn’t expect either of them, but it would’ve been nice to see Jay O. Sanders or Billy Eugene Jones recognized for their work in Purlie Victorious. It would’ve been especially sweet to see the former get his first Tony nod when his wife Maryann Plunkett is nominated again.
