Show closing question

I know that one reason why shows close  is that the shows operating cost is higher then the weekly gross, but what else causes a show to close, a show like cats makes more then 1 million a week and I don't think the show cost that much to run, so I'm curious what some other reasons could be for a show closing,thank you.

Cats has rarely made more than 1M a week and is making well below its potential gross. I have no clue what the nut is  - and there may be other factors - but the numbers just aren't great.

It's almost always about $$   In this case, they know what their advance looks like.  Successful revivals only last a year to 18 months.


If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
