I'm back with another question for opinions. I might end up not being able to see Dear Evan Hansen, so in that case... I was wondering what other show might be good too see!
I'm going at the end of March or early April, and I was thinking between Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Amelie, Hello, Dolly! (I love Gavin Creel), or Waitress - though I'm open to other suggestions!
Hello, Dolly! is going to be a production for the ages, if you can find a ticket (I believe it's near sold-out!). Amélie will have Phillipa Soo, of course, which is a big draw for me—if you're a fan of hers, you shouldn't miss this.
Waitress will no longer have Jessie Mueller in the lead role by the time you're there, if that makes any difference.
I'd also consider looking into Miss Saigon, Sunset Boulevard, and War Paint.
Edit: If you haven't seen Great Comet yet, definitely 100% see Great Comet.
I saw Amélie and while I enjoyed myself, I wouldn't choose it if I could only see one show. Hello, Dolly is most likely sold out for your date, so that may be hard. Waitress is going on tour and Jessie will be gone by the time you're there. If you can get tickets to Dolly, do that, if not, I'd suggest Great Comet or Sunday in the Park.
Is there any chance that Gavin Creel stage doors for matinees? Maybe I could meet him the next day before I leave. :P Yes, Hello, Dolly! is incredibly sold out - I didn't realize it was so popular, oops!
And thank you for the other show recommendations. I have a lot to look into! Still crossing my fingers that Dear Evan Hansen works out, of course.
I think Sunset BLVD and School of Rock are must sees.
