I am trying out for my highschool musical of Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown and am planning on going for the role of Taxi Driver (played by Danny Burstein on Broadway). This character open's the show with the song Madrid which has a mambo vibe to it. The song is about comparing the city of Madrid to a mother nursing a baby (litterally the lyrics include: "Give me little titty 'cause im hungry every minute" / and ":give me the nipple everyday im gonna taste it"Audition song help it all serousness it is an amazing musical, Patti Lupone was in it on broadway. So in short, I need an audition song. I was thinking of perhaps maybe doing Evita's Buenos Aires even though its writtin for a female (thinking i can just maybe do it in a lower octave? btw im a tenor)

sorry this post is a mess but im really freaking out

It depends on your voice type but assuming your a Mezzo from the fact Patti previously played a role you could try something from Chicago (Mr Cellophane?).However stuff from Spring Awakening are always strong ones (such as All That's Known & Don't Do Sadness are some of the most moving songs). If you are looking for an over used one anything from Rent or Fiddler is a safe bet. Hope this helped
