Former AI fan here, I think the last year I watchef was when Adam Lambert was on. Now, turned off frm most 'reality' shows. Got a vicarious look behind the curtain when a friend was set up to be mocked on AGT.

I like watching the talent based reality shows because I really do believe the contestants have talent. I have already resigned myself to the fact that they are completely manipulated by the producers. I stopped voting years ago because since they never disclose the votes, the votes really don't matter! I have known people from my hometown who have competed but really- how does one compare a pop singer to a country singer? Or a ballerina to a hip hop dancer? Or a juggler to a ventriloquist. (one of my daughter's friends was on AGT as a juggler and the producers told him what to do and he had to pay for his own props) Still,I watch!
Top Chef is my favorite of the talent reality shows. Most of the chefs have real, true talent, plus participating on Top Chef is not looked down on in the industry as a cheap and easy way to advance yourself in the culinary world. Many of the contestants have worked under some of the finest chefs in the country for years before making it on the show so they really know their stuff.
Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco.
Tony: Eh, she's a no chip!
I watched every season of So You Think You Can Dance except this one. I don't want to see children in any talent show, sorry.
The singing competitions have run their course. How the Voice remains so popular with not a single break-out star among any of their winners is beyond me.
