Pardon if this has been shown before, but I ran across this video of Laurie Beechman singing "Memory."  Words cannot describe how beautiful this performance is.  http://www.broadwaybox.com/daily-scoop/clip-of-the-day-laurie-beechmans-memory-may-bring-you-to-tears/

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

I'm seeing it tonight, I'm hoping everyone's been falling more into character and feeling more confident!

Saw the show tonight, and, in short, it's awful. It's no fault of the actors. All are in great voice and great form. And all are slaying it on stage. But the show itself is just a bore. No one around me seemed excited by it, and nothing felt electric. It felt very "eh." I was bored the entire time. Even "Memory" felt "eh" even though she nailed it. Just nothing was new or interesting. It felt dated and boring. She "floated" to the heaven side layer with no lights on her.... wtf. It's terrible.

I havent seen it, but from what people' have said that was the one that was mostly re-choreographed by Andy (whats his name from Hamilton) and that it was one of the most exciting moments of the revival

the choreography, lighting, and singing is outstanding in this show.  I don't know what stick is up the ripped one's ass.

I was there on Saturday night and I rather enjoyed it.  The only major person who was out was Grizabella, but I liked Jessica Hendy's rendition of Memory although I really wanted to see Mamie. I thought the energy of the cast was outstanding.  Cudos to the very attentive audience.

Hey Dottie! Did your colleagues enjoy the cake even though your cat decided to sit on it? ~GuyfromGermany

I was there on Sunday night, and Mamie was out again (anyone know when she's back?). She was the main reason I wanted to see the show, but Jessica Hendy did not disappoint! Her Memory gave me shivers and her voice is really great. I got lottery tickets in the front mezzanine,  the view was great. All in all, it was a fun night out!

I saw Mamie last night - at least I'm pretty sure I did? - and her voice was outstanding! And sure the cast was fine - as I said - good voices, but not really any interesting voices. Dancing was good as you can imagine. But I'm not a CATS enthusiast so I didn't notice any changes, etc. The lighting was fine? But I don't see what's so incredible about it? It's just some light's strung about? They do the same thing with Christmas lights on houses.

Yes! More evidence that if you don't know anything about/don't care about dance, then maybe don't see this show.

How would I know these things without seeing the show? Calm down. You're getting heated over a show about dancing Cats...

Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about sitting in the orchestra center front row A 101?

My other option is the opposite side of the center section on the aisle in the fourth row, D 114.

I usually like to sit really close unless the stage is high.  Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

A101 is a great seat and you will get kitty love. Front row orchestra at CATS is the best!  The stage is not too high. I would not miss out on front row.

I also like B1, maybe even a bit more - it is right across the aisle from A101 on the left (B is front row for the left side section). Even though you are slightly more of a side view, it does not detract and you will get even more kitty encounters. I put my 9 year old in B1 and he had cats all over him. You can't go wrong with either seat.

Enjoy!

The stage is actually fairly low, so you'll be fine up front, as Olivia11 said. I believe the conductor/pit crew are below the stage too, so they aren't an issue either. Prepare to be mesmerized! :)

Buffalo Bill said: "I work at The Simon, it's a really cool set. The theatre has been transformed. I'm guessing here, no inside info, just observations: it's sort of a "world within a world" concept, perhaps? It's stunning and extremely detailed. To my untrained eye (I have an M.A. in Theatre history with a minor in Theatrical Architecture) it appears as if they've ripped the theatre open to reveal to us the world where CATS takes place.

The ceiling of the orchestra is strewn with strings of multicolored lights with bulbs just popping color everywhere during certain numbers. (I am revealing my ignorance here, I've never seen the show before.)

The great ceiling of the balcony now appears to be torn open to reveal a majestic skyline, resplendent with magical pinpoints of starlight and the occasional stray moonbeam, emanatingfrom a gigantic moon which appears at the back of the set. It's mesmerizing.

"

Thats so cool! My lockscreen on my phone are the lights. I think the set looked amazing. Shame it closed.

Did you really just bump the preview thread from a year ago to tell us about your lock screen picture?
