Priscilla Queen of the Desert landed in Bristol for two weeks near the end of a long tour and three different Ticks - actually four as due to Duncan James being indisposed we had understudy Craig Ryder doing a superb and multi layer performance which gelled strongly with Simon Green as Bernadette and Adam Bailey as Felicia making a trio who certainly gave stronger and more emotional touching performances than I have seen before in the show.

An amazing ensemble backing them all giving full on performances which was badly marred by the worst sound quality I have heard in years at a concert or theatre. With the Bodyguard and Mamma Mia already playing the Hippodrome this year they both showed that you can up the volume but still keep it sharp and clear - much of Priscilla was just turn up the volume loud and distorted which made most songs into a jangle of screeches and din - the cast really deserved to have their vocal talents heard and I really hope they have sorted it for the run from the mess of opening night.

Bodyguard and Mamma Mia have way more money being spent on them than Priscila. More money = more gear, people and time = better sound. Simple.
